Taking a walk in the woods
Hiking is one of my favorite past times. Besides walking the dog, I try to take a weekly hike of a couple of miles. Sometimes, it is clearly for exercise - I move as fast as a I can. Other times, I need a break from work and family and I go out to quiet my brain. During those times, I really try to pay attention to what is around me and be thankful to live where I live. The mountains of northwestern North Carolina is one of the prettiest places on the planet and I try to represent their beauty the best I can. I stop and change angles and really observe the world around me. And sometimes the dog allows me to, where other times, he keeps me going.
So, I challenge you, on your next walk, to really pay attention. What is something you have seen on your last walk that you have never seen before?

I very much enjoy the image with the leaf in the Taking a walk in the woods. I enjoy the vivid color of the leaf that contrast the more dull background. and while the leaf is centered in the photo it is still a successful piece and centering something into a photo can be complicated. Awesome job.

DeleteLandscape photography is my favorite! I love the picture of the mountains during the sunset. All of these photos are so well doe and creative.

DeleteYour b/w image is quite intriguing. I don’t know why, but when I look at it I feel a little bit sad. Perhaps it is the facing down perspective you have created. I like how the image seems to roll deeply into the right corner of the image. It makes the whole image feel like it is slowly marching there. Your shallow depth of field creates a sense of mystery as well. My only suggestion would be to add a small splash of color somewhere in the composition to create a clear focal point. Overall, wonderful work!

I too enjoy photographing the landscape and nature around me. I think that is why I really enjoyed your work and loved to hear about it as well. It is so simplistic and beautiful. I love the earth tones but maybe look into the more vibrant colors of nature as well!
ReplyDeleteWow! The image of the sun beaming over the grass in the early morning is stunning. I love the way the camera captures the morning light and breaks it into beautiful beams. the composition is so good!
